Tampons
What do you need to know about the correct use of tampons?
Tampon use is safe if proper use procedures are followed and relevant precautions are taken into account. If it is used correctly then there are small chances of causing infections, something that could also happen with the use of sanitary napkins. The most important thing is to strictly observe basic hygiene rules, such as washing hands before and after placement, frequent replacement at least every 6 hours at most and not to use when not having a period.
There is a popular myth related to the tampon causing injury to the vaginal walls, which is almost impossible because it is made of soft, surgical cotton. As long as the tampon is inserted correctly you should not feel it. If there is discomfort then it simply means it was not placed correctly and needs to be removed to redo the process.
